Lily Revere has been lusting after the hot lawyer Griffin Taylor but although he sends out the right signals, he isn’t interested in a relationship. Lily decides to take his freewill away from him and slip a potent love potion into his drink. It works a little too well as Griffin can’t bear to be away from her. Unfortunately Lily doesn’t know if his feelings are sincere or if they are the manifestations of the love potion.
Lily is fairly self absorbed and incredibly irresponsible. She knows that the love potion will have a significant effect on Griffin as she is a powerful witch but decides to go ahead anyway and spike his drink. Her sister’s dire warnings don’t even deter her. The more sex she has with Griffin, the more fixated he is on her – clearly not a healthy relationship. I would have had a little more respect for her if she had coughed up the details of what she had done but she doesn’t have the guts for that.
Griffin acts like a man possessed…because he is. I have no way of knowing what Lily saw in him because he becomes slavish in his affections very quickly. He probably was a nice guy because he had some friends that seemed to care about him but beyond that, I haven’t a clue.
The relationship basically consists of Griffin obsessing over Lily, fantasising about her, Lily wondering if she should do the right thing and confess her sins and then the two having sex. The plot is stuck on a rinse and repeat cycle so I actually got a bit bored. The love potion takes the excitement out of the relationship as there is never any doubt as to whether they will get together.
I prefer relationships to be a little more balanced with both individuals able to exercise their right to free will. It wasn’t really my cup of tea. On the plus side, there is a cute dog.
