Feature & Follow: #177 Favourite Holiday Food

Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! This week’s question is…

What is your favourite holiday food?

I’m focussing on Christmas because I have it on the brain. I blame the shops that insist on blaring out Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer or White Christmas from September. I’m on the Gold Coast, Australia so this is seriously stupid as our Christmas going to be so hot a reindeer would get heat stroke. The only White Christmas I’m likely to get is if my mother makes a batch (hint, hint). I really love Christmas but I wish the stores would acknowledge that things are little different in the southern hemisphere.

Anyway, rant over. My favourite holiday food would have to be rum balls – heavy on the rum/rum essence, chocolate and coconut. I got pulled over for random breath testing when I had a plate of these bad boys on me a few years ago. I had a hard time convincing the cop I was stone cold sober until the breathalyser did its thing because even though they were wrapped up, the smell was rather pungent 🙂

  1. RUM BALLS! Those are quite yummy. I had a few in the Bahamas this May and they pack a punch taste wise.
I honestly look forward to cold and wintery holiday seasons. To me it would seem different without the falling leaves and snow for the holidays.
I’ve always wanted to go somewhere warm and pretty for the holidays though. I may go to Funchal Island for NY 2016. That will be nice if it comes through for us.
