Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs! This week’s question is…
It is up to you to do a Kickstarter campaign for your favourite book!!! Who are you casting for the main characters?
Houston, we have a problem. I actually prefer unknowns to be cast in big new movie franchises. When I go to see these films, I don’t want to have a mental image of the actor in a previous role. Case in point – whenever I see Brad Pitt I automatically think of Interview with a Vampire and Troy. No matter what new films he does, my mind keeps coming back to these ones. I doubt the Harry Potter franchise or even The Hunger Games would have been as successful if we hadn’t been given fresh faces that people could fall in love with.
So without further ado, Vilia Productions will guarantee that if you donate your hard-earned money, the following artists will never feature in our upcoming movie franchise The Sentinels of New Orleans based on the novels by Suzanne Johnson. If we don’t get enough money from you then we may be seeking their involvement. Is that scary enough or what?
Drusilla (DJ) Jaco – Miley Cyrus. DJ is a fairly geeky Green Wizard. She has played an important role in helping New Orleans citizens sleep well at night by managing the supernaturals. DJ is not the life of the party even though she does create chaos when she unleashes Charlie. I don’t think that twerking would ever be her thing – no matter how much Lafitte might enjoy it.
Alex Warin – Jack Black. He’s a hilarious actor that thrives when playing a socially awkward character with a heart of gold. He would be terrible for this role as he would be forced to be serious all…the…time and favour violence over negotiation.
Jake Warin – Robert Patterson. At the end of Royal Street Jake became a loup garou (a form of werewolf). Turning one of the most popular modern vampire actors into a werewolf is just wrong on so many levels. I know that Jake has difficulty managing his condition and the smell of DJ’s blood makes him wild BUT team fur and team fang should not mix. Someone a little more animalistic would fit.
Jean Lafitte – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. We need a gentleman rogue to play Lafitte. Someone who can pull off a charming French accent, be focused on seducing DJ despite her rejections and always on the look out for opportunities to expand his burgeoning black-market business. Dwayne has the tough guy image down because he is an ex-wrestler but I just don’t see him matching Lafitte’s level of finesse.
Quince Randolph – Brendan Fraser. Fraser just isn’t creepy enough. He’s also played lots of roles where he’s been the hero (The Phantom, The Mummy, George of the Jungle) so I don’t think being a quasi villain that forces DJ into doing something she’d rather not would fit his style of films.
Rene Delachaise – Zac Effron. I just can’t picture him as a Cajun merman that skins gators. Sorry, can’t muster up the mental image.
