2014 January Must Haves

No steampunks that I’m really hanging out for which is a shame but given the glut of romance novels it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I’m still reading books from December so I need some wiggle room.  There are a few new series starting that look cool like Jenn Bennett’s Bitter Spirits and Tessa Dare’s Romancing the Duke and some old favourites like Diana Rowland’s Kara Gillian series and Cecy Robson’s Weird Girls series.

This month also marks the end of the Night Huntress series which will be a bit sad as Halfway to the Grave was one of the first paranormal romance I read. I think I’ll give Frost’s new YA series (Broken Destiny) a shot when The Beautiful Ashes comes out in September.

Adding fuel to the fire, Stella’s parents soon arrive—with her ex-boyfriend—hoping to persuade her to return to Chicago. Ugly duckling turned swan?
Abducted by handsome highwayman?
Rescued from drudgery by charming prince?

No, no, and… Heh.

Now Izzy’s given up yearning for romance. She’ll settle for a roof over her head. What fairy tales are left over for an impoverished twenty-six year-old woman who’s never even been kissed?

This one.

The more Prospero learns about the dangerous new potion the MEA is investigating, the more she’s convinced that earning a spot on their task force is the career break she’s been wanting. But getting the assignment proves much easier than solving the case. Especially once the investigation reveals their lead suspect is the man she walked away from ten years earlier—on the same day she swore she’d never use dirty magic again.

  1. I really really really want to read Bitter Spirits. Every review I read for it makes me want to read it that much more. And I’m only through book 2 on Cat & Bones but I plan to read the rest of the series this year. Oh and Weird Girls – I want to read that! A few of the others sound good, but they aren’t on my have to have list yet.
