  Although this is marketed as a mystery, it really plays out more like an adventure or thriller novel as our main characters pit themselves against dangerous weather conditions and a murdering baddie. Gracie Kincaid is a search and rescue volunteer who has notched up some impressive rescues. She’s called out on Thanksgiving to find some hikers that have gone missing. Since the missing hikers include the celebrity actor Rob Christian, the authorities are determined to pull out all the stops to find them.

Review: Missing Barbados by Willem Pain

  The cover and the blurb really drew me in but I didn’t enjoy this as much as I had hoped. Private detective Susan “Ice” Berg is hired to find a girl who has gone missing in Barbados. Her father, a member of the British aristocracy doesn’t want to involve the police as it may tarnish the family name. She and her sidekick Dutch get up to a variety of hijinks while tracking the teen and you have to wonder whether hiring them was worth all of the property damage they caused.

  Performance Anomalies is an intriguing thriller featuring an unusual protagonist, Cono. His old lover Xiao Li has been kidnapped and calls him from Kazakhstan begging for help.
