Sunday Post #34

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I’m just starting to ease back into things after a long hiatus caused by significant medical problems. If you want to read the whole sad and sorry mess you can do so here but typing it again is just too depressing.

It’s safe to say that the end of 2014 was pretty crappy but I did read some excellent books earlier in the year. The top three books for me would have to be Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare (HR), Dark Skye by Kresley Cole (PNR) and Banishing the Dark by Jenn Bennett (UF). There were a stack more that I heartily enjoyed but didn’t have that special something that made me swoon. I know I missed some awesome new releases but by signing up for the 2015 TBR Pile Reading Challenge, I’m hoping to knock some of them off.

I’ve done most of my reading in the last few weeks sitting in doctors’ waiting rooms which has been oddly dissatisfying. Over the last few years I have acquired the nasty habit of talking or yelling at characters when they do something that irritates me…out loud. Don’t worry, the characters never talk back 😉 This is fine in the privacy of my own home with only the cats to show their disdain but not so socially acceptable in public. The more I try to restrain my reactions, the more I fidget. I must have looked like I had fleas or something as I was getting some rather odd looks.

    • I’m afraid it’s terminal 🙁

You’re right about the doctors’ magazines though. I started carrying antibac with me – not to protect my father but to protect me.

  1. Oh I do the same thing – I’m a vocal reader. I cry, laugh, yell, and cuss at my characters. And I have a hard time holding back when in public. I tend to make notes saying what I’m feeling when I don’t feel like I can say it aloud. But the laughing and crying happen, can’t help that.

Sending you healing thoughts and hugs <3!

  2. So sorry to hear about your medical problems! That is never easy to deal with. I loved Dark Skye as well!! Have you read the entire series? I’m wanting to go back and start at the beginning but I read a review of the 1st book that has made me hesitant to try it. I probably will end up reading it at some point just because I enjoyed Dark Skye so much. I hope that you have a great week! Happy Reading!

    • The first book honestly sucks and should be avoided but thankfully it is a novella size so isn’t that important in the grand scheme of things.

I either loathe the relationships or absolutely adore them and Dark Skye was an adore case. Other ones that won me over were No Rest for the Wicked and Dark Desires After Dusk.
