Sunday Post #3

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

This was a really busy week for me RL wise not blog wise. I was supposed to be working until Friday but we finished the job a couple of days early so I had time to relax. I spent a day hanging out with a friend’s family and watching her little kids chase seagulls which was far more exhausting than it sounds. I also bought a 3DS XL and somehow wound up buying a Pokemon special edition without realising it – going to be hard to maintain my street cred now :).

UBB has been updated so you can now search my reviews much more easily. I really like the new functionality. I also discovered why the pictures on the facebook site are screwy – if they aren’t quite 200×200 or larger, they can’t be processed. Some of my covers were 198×300 so they just missed the boat. I can’t fix the old ones but I am in the process of fixing my scheduled posts.

As you would know if you checked out my reviews, I very rarely give 1 star ratings. I just couldn’t connect with the characters in this book no matter how hard I tried.

Books Read

The Stationmaster's Farewell Fated Storm Front Monster in My Closet How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire Skating Around the Law

Motley Musings

Okay, so I got the fast food worker (Skating Around the Law)a paramedic (Storm Front) and a security guard (Fated) this week. I found a series called Racetrack by Bev Pettersen which I think will get me the jockey and there are a few Susan Mallery books that feature chefs. If I can’t get one of those I’ll re read one of Louise Edwards.

    • Thanks! I’m actually late responding as I caught a nasty bug Sunday night and have been violently ill. Things are looking up though as I’m out of bed and back in front of the computer where I belong.

    • I hope it eases up for you soon. My first day of rest I actually spent sleeping – couldn’t muster up the energy to think, talk, cook etc.

    • Well I just got the console with the Pokemon images on it but I think I might have to buckle and buy the damn game – it would be mean not to.

    • Well after accidentally buying the special edition console I checked out a couple of sites and apparently in Pokemon X & Y you can…skate to locations rather than running. Woot!

    • I wish they would come out in paperback too – I want them on my favourite bookshelf. You could buy a copy from a different company for your epub file and then manually add it to your Kobo. It is a pain but that’s how I was doing it before Sony had their eReader store up and running.

  1. Too bad about Skating Around the Law – I’m like you, I don’t give 1 star reviews often, so if I do, I really could not get into the book. I’m curious to see what you thought of Storm Front by Jim Butcher. I read and reviewed it a few weeks ago – I did the audio book – but I was on the fence about it and from the comments I got the series is one that people have mixed responses to. Off to check out your 5 star review now (can’t pass up those). Hope you had a great week!

    • My initial impression was that it was really great but the longer between reading it and writing the review, the more iffy I am on it.
