Russell has finally got Master Han within his grasp when some chick ruins his shot. If that isn’t enough, she then wants to work with him to bring Han down. Fortunately for the tiger-shifter princess of Tiger Town (try saying that fast) Jia, she’s cute and Russell whose been living by himself in a cave for years and years can’t resist her charms.

Sparks has come up with some fairly zany ideas over this series but Amazonian warrior women secreted in a Shangri-la style valley would have to be one of the more unexpected ones. Zoltan Czakvar, Translyvanian vampire, has been hunting his father’s murderer since 1241 and the only clue left behind was an unique design carved into the arrow shaft. A chance discovery of an identical arrow leads him to the wilds of Tibet where he meets a very unusual woman, Neona. She quickly captures his heart when she bops him on the head.
How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire is a fun, albeit cheesy, paranormal romance. Roman Draganesti, a handsome ex-monk who also happens to be a vampire. Roman’s business has created synthetic blood so he and other like him don’t have to feast on humans. He accidentally breaks off one of his fangs on a sex doll no less and when he visits his dentist, he discovers a vampire assassin trying to rub her out.
In previous books we met poor Ian who had been stuck looking the age he was when he died. He had ‘lived’ nearly 500 years but looked like a baby-faced 15 year old. Naturally this made it fairly difficult for him to score with the ladies and assert his manliness as a warrior. Ian decided to take a drug that would keep him away during the day because of the side effects – ageing one year for every day that he took it. Now he is looking for a vampire bride but Toni the mortal security guard keeps grabbing his attention.
I can’t believe we are up to #14 now in this series. We head off to Asia in this instalment which combined with a bit of reincarnation, introduced a freshness that was desperately needed to compensate for the lack of Malcontent fighting. Our vamps are worried about killing the demon Darafer’s human army. They hire Dr Leah Chin, a genius geneticist to help them remove Darafer’s influence. When Dougal Kincaid, head of security, sees her he feels and immediate connection – she’s just like his long lost love Li Lei. His dragon tattoo seems to recognise her too.
I developed a soft spot for Howard Barr (the were-bear) over the course of the last few novels so was really excited that he would meet his match. Howard has a crush on THE Elsa Bjornberg. Heard of her? Me neither. Elsa is a host of a home renovation show and Howard watches the show religiously just to see her in action. His employer, Shanna Draganesti, decides that he needs a little nudge in the right direction and so invites Elsa and her crew to renovate the Draganesti pile.
I am so very glad Sparks has temporarily turned her pen towards historical romance because this was a highly enjoyable read. Caroline Munro is determined to find a safe haven for her heavily pregnant sister Virginia, niece and nephew after the British burned down their home. Caroline plays along when Jane Thomas, mistress of Loblolly Plantation mistakes Caroline for her son’s intended. Captain Matthias Thomas has no interest in getting married and thinks the woman in his bed is trying to entrap him. Matthias should be focussing all his attention on disrupting the British supply line but Caroline is […]
The Vampire and the Virgin is not bad for a filler novel but its formulaic nature didn’t really set my heart on fire. Robby MacKay, vampire swordsman extraordinaire, has gone to Patmos to recuperate after a serious injury. He needs to focus on getting better so he can get back to hacking and slashing Malcontents. The last thing he expected was to fall for FBI psychologist Olivia Sotiris.
